Seriously? What? You're kidding...tell me another one....

Ray Carlin/Icon SMI According to the national media, Lions fans should probably still feel ashamed.

I can't believe it...I still can't believe it....Wasn't it just 27-3?  And the Lions defense couldn't cover anybody and they weren't really all that good at stopping the run and the offense looked lousy and the 3-0 run was fun, but it was over now?

Or was I just dreaming?

Because the Lions are 4-0.  The Lions won 34-30...

No, really....are you kidding me?

But...just ask the national media...the Lions didn't "win" the game...Tony Romo and the Cowboys gave it to them.  It wasn't the Lions taking full advantage of poor throws and forcing stupid mistakes...it was the Cowboys making them.

See?  It doesn't matter what the Lions do.  There will always be naysayers.  Now, it won't be until the Lions manage to beat the Bears on Monday night...then it'll be "No respect until the Lions beat the Packers"...and then..."well, the Lions haven't been to the super bowl yet..."

It doesn't matter that Calvin Johnson has caught two touchdowns per game all season long...he can't possibly be the best in the game...after all, he's a Lion.

Matthew Stafford isn't a legitimate superstar QB until he can go a whole season without a significant injury....or next, until he can win a playoff game.  It doesn't matter that he's engineered (and completed) comeback victories in two consecutive road games...two 20+ point deficits erased and eradicated.

But those comeback victories?  Why were they down by 20+ points to begin with?  And Minnesota...last week's comeback victim...still hasn't one a game yet this season...and they've led in every game....Everybody comes back against the Vikings...so who cares that the Lions beat THEM...

And now the Cowboys...the 'Boys are so inconsistent...so unpredictable...the Lions probably just caught them on a bad day...

As the fourth quarter ticked away and the Cowboys were trying to do whatever they could do to stop the bleeding that started with Bobby Carpenter's interception returned for a touchdown and Chris Houston's pick six on the very next series....the score had gone from 27-10 to 27-24 in a blink of an eye...

But the Lions had the Cowboys on the ropes in a third and long and were ready to get the ball back....Romo throws too long for his receiver...fourth down....nope...wait...the Kong had decided to punch Romo in the face...15 yard penalty, 1st down...these WERE the same old Lions...shooting themselves in the foot...

See?  Everybody was right about them.

But no...the Lions defense stiffened and only gave up a field goal.  30-24.

The following series, the Lions marched down the field, ready to take the lead.  On third and long, Stafford hit Brandon Pettigrew on a crossing pattern.  He broke a tackle and was finally tackled after a 30+ yard gain to the Dallas 8 yard line! But...nope...Nate Burleson was caught with a block in the back on Terrence Newman...a guy who apparently had no intention of trying to tackle the 6'5 250 lb tight end with a full head of steam...Newman was making a "business decision."

The whole play came back...

See? Everybody was right about them.  The Lions had to settle for a field goal.  30-27.

And then...Romo, on Dallas' next series, has Jason Witten running a post pattern against a defense without a safety over the top.  Romo sees the coverage, but the pressure up front is significant...so he tried to hit Clark for a big play, while throwing off his back foot.

Stephen Tulloch was able to step in front of Witten and pick off the underthrown pass.

So Romo underthrew the ball...it's obviously Romo's poor play...not that the Lions were able to force the bad throw with good pressure...

Or that Chris Houston made a great play on the second interception...

Or that Bobby Carpenter made an outstanding play on the first interception...

It's never the Lions....

The Lions never win...other teams just screw up and lose to them.

Down with America's Team!

Ray Carlin/Icon SMI Romo has broken ribs, hopefully the Lions can break the rest of him.

Let me first start off by saying that I've always hated the title "America's Team."

I think it's pompous and egotistical and frankly rude to the other 31 teams in the league.

I have a long list of reasons for hating the Dallas Cowboys.

1. Emmit Smith...seriously people?  Do you really think he was better than Barry?  I think the argument is laughable.

2. The 1990's...that was supposed to be the Lions decade!  It started off in 1991 when the Lions managed their only playoff victory in 50 years in a 38-6 pounding of the Cowboys...then what happens?  The Lions get trounced in the NFC Championship game...Dallas goes on to become a dynasty and the Lions have been laughing stocks ever since.

3. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders...ok, so maybe they were the first ones...but they seem to be pretty run of the mill now around the league...of course we don't have ANY cheerleaders in Detroit so....I hate Dallas for this too.

4. Jessica Simpson....Tony?  What did you do to that girl?

But this is a new year...new teams....Detroit is 3-0 and currently national media darlings...the Cowboys are 2-1 and struggling to finish off games or protect Tony Romo.

Detroit Offense vs Dallas Defense

This is probably the primo battle of the day.  It may all boil down to Demarcus Ware vs Jeff Backus...the same Backus who was torched from three sacks against Jared Allen just a few short days ago.    The Lions may have to chip and double team and bazooka Ware to make sure he doesn't get 10 sacks on Sunday...but beyond that...

The Cowboys have nobody who can cover Calvin Johnson and I don't think the 'Boys have had to face a passing attack the likes of Detroit yet this season...

I sincerely don't think that Dallas has faced an offense as good as the Lions yet.  Mark Sanchez to Santonio Holmes is pedestrian in comparison to Stafford to Johnson....Alex Smith to Micheal Crabtree...please....Rex Grossman to...anybody...no, the Lions are a whole new animal for the Cowboys to face.

This sounds pretty cocky, I know...which really makes me fear this is a trap game...against the Cowboys?  How can that be a trap?

Advantage Detroit

Dallas Offense vs Detroit Defense

Tony Romo is nursing a punctured lungs and a broken rib....do you think that the Kong isn't aware of this?  Miles Austin may not even play.  Dallas is having problems with their center and their offensive line in general...again, do you think that Corey Williams, KVB and Cliff Avril aren't licking their chops to get to Romo?

I fully expect Dez Bryant to hurt the Lions at least once and for Jason Witten to be a problem all day...unless Suh has Romo for lunch...

Advantage Detroit
